"One Leg Kicking" bercerita
tentang sekumpulan "orang-orang gagal" yang membentuk tim
sepakbola yang diberi nama "The Durians" untuk sebuah liga
fiktif di Singapura yang dibentuk oleh sponsor yang punya visi jauh ke
depan. Hadiah yang ditawarkan adalah perjalanan gratis nonton babak
final Piala Dunia 2002. Gurmit Singh (TAI PO) berperan sebagai pahlawan
rakyat kecil, sosok gigih yang harus menghidupi dua anak kecil seorang
diri setelah isterinya meninggal dunia. Anggota kesebelasan Durians yang
lain adalah Mark Lee (HANDSOME), seorang ex-napi yang meledak-ledak
berangnya, Moe Alkaff (VERNON), seorang penyanyi amatir yang harus
berjuang mati-matian mengalahkan saingan utamanya --- si mesin karaoke,
dan Sharon Au (KIM), seorang tomboy perkasa yang berhati lembut,
sementara Siva Choy (SAMMY BEST) berperan sebagai sang pelatih bijak
yang berhasil membungkus mereka menjadi juara.
“One Leg Kicking” tells the story about a group of underdogs who form an amateur football team (THE DURIANS) to play in a fictional local league organized by a farsighted sponsor. The prize for the winners : a trip to the 2002 World Cup Finals. Gurmit Singh plays (TAI PO) the common man’s hero, raising his two young children single handedly after his wife passes away. The rest of the “Durians” include Mark Lee (HANDSOME), an ex-convict with major anger management problems, Moe Alkaff (VERNON), a lounge singer struggling against his deadly nemesis, the karaoke machine; and Sharon Au (KIM) a tender but tough tomboy, while Siva Choy
(SAMMY BEST) plays the inspirational coach who moulds them into a winning side.
